In class, we went over some safety regulations regarding how we are to handle chemicals, ourselves, experiments, etc. We each chose a topic that we wanted to create a safety poster about. My partner was Monique, and we chose to do ours on the MSDS. We learned that the MSDS was a book (or in our case, binder) that held everything you needed to know about chemicals. It gave us what to do if you are exposed to it, the components of it, etc. After thinking about it, we decided that our catchy slogan should be "Read the MSDS, it ain't no bs!". We got signed off on it, and proceeded to create it. Down below is the process, as well as our final poster.
"The simplicity of the universe -which started this part of our conversation- I think, if it doesn't drive you to poetry.. it drives you to bask in the majesty of the cosmos." In class, we were able to watch an interview conducted by Stephen Colbert, for the astrophysicist Neil deGrasse Tyson. Although the interview was quite lengthy, it was easily enjoyable and had a light humorous vibe. I actually took a lot out of what I heard him talk about, but one quote that struck is the one above. I realized that his summed up how I feel about the cosmos myself. At first, it was something that I couldn't quite wrap my head around, as it was so vast and seemingly endless. To me, the universe was a complicated messy thing that I didn't really want to learn about. But recently I discovered that if I just step back for a moment, and realize the beauty in front of me, it was actually quite simple. Hey everyone! Welcome to my new (and improved) Chemistry blog! Here you will get to see all the cool things my class gets up to on a day-to-day basis. So sit back, relax, and enjoy!
